A voice shouts from a cave, sounds of the cosmos radiate over a tropical paradise, and a phantasm parades down the street with a sword as issues are heard and forms are seen that represent colonialism in Puerto Rico both past and present.
A collaboration with Christy LeMaster, Jesse Malmed, and all the friends at the Nightingale's 2013 Friendsgiving. A bolex H16 is used to capture fun, reflections, yeahs, and spinning mirrors that are accompanied by an improvisation on the Buckminster Fuller arranged by Jesse. Friendsgiving is an annual Nightingale Cinema (nightingalecinema.org) Pre-Thanksgiving celebration.
This project explores the creative possibilities of the 16mm projector through performance. Wrecked is made of found footage of a drunk driving accident originally produced to present to high school students before their prom. Beginning the piece with the lens entirely off of the projector and putting the projector back together while the film plays mirrors the experience of piecing together a memory. The disconcerting cut of the found footage also stands to draw us closer to the kind of mixed sense of time the two intoxicated victims would have sensed awakened in pain and disbelief.
